Is this just a band?

Not exactly. While music is at the heart of what we do, we see Shunned at a Funeral as something much bigger. It’s a creative universe that blends music, filmmaking, and storytelling into one cohesive experience. Each song, each visual, and each project is designed to connect and build into something larger. Our hope is that listeners don’t just hear the music, but step into the world behind it. As far as we know, there hasn’t been anything quite like this done in this way, bringing all of these elements together into a unified vision.

Who writes the lyrics and songs for Shunned at a Funeral?

The vast majority of our music and lyrics are written by our musical director, who intentionally prefers to stay behind the scenes. As a band, we believe Christian music shouldn’t center on the artists themselves, but on the message. The goal has always been to create something that points beyond us and draws people closer to God. Keeping that focus shapes everything we write and produce.

Can I buy physical CDs for Shunned at a Funeral albums?

At this time, we aren’t able to produce physical CDs. Because we’re on a smaller label, it isn’t cost effective right now. That said, we are actively exploring those options as we grow. Since our label leans more toward film, it’s actually more likely that a Blu-ray release of our Bethlehem film would come first. We’ve heard from enough of you asking about CDs that it’s definitely on our radar, especially for newer releases, so stay tuned.

Is Shunned at a Funeral an AI band?

Not exactly.

Shunned at a Funeral is better understood as an omniproject.

And yes, that is a term we coined. Trust us, it’s going to catch on.

By omniproject, we mean a creative universe that is not limited to one format. Shunned at a Funeral blends music, film, storytelling, fictional characters, theological writing, live-style performance, visual worldbuilding, and modern creative tools into one immersive Christian artistic universe.

An “AI band” is usually understood to mean that the music, lyrics, characters, and creative direction are primarily generated by artificial intelligence. That is not what Shunned at a Funeral is.

While we do use modern tools as part of the creative process, the heart of the project is human. The lyrics, arrangements, musical structure, theological themes, orchestration, story direction, and overall creative vision are shaped by real people and real musicianship.

Shunned at a Funeral was designed from the beginning to be more than a traditional band. It was created as a larger world where the songs, characters, films, visuals, and theology all connect.

Bands have made films before. Films have had music performed by bands. Fictional characters have existed in music before. But as far as we are aware, nothing has quite combined all of these elements from the beginning in the way Shunned at a Funeral is attempting to do.

This project was built from the ground up as a cinematic Christian music and storytelling universe. The characters, songs, albums, films, theology, and visuals are all part of the same larger vision.

So no, Shunned at a Funeral is not a traditional band.

And no, it is not simply an “AI band.”

It is an omniproject: a human-directed creative universe using music, film, story, characters, theology, and modern tools to create something meaningful, immersive, and, we hope, unlike anything people have experienced before.

We understand that this approach is unusual, and we realize it will not be for everyone. But for those who connect with the music, the message, and the world we are building, we are very glad to have you along for the journey.

Will Shunned at a Funeral tour in my town?

We would absolutely love to someday.

Because Shunned at a Funeral is an omniproject, the long-term dream is not just to play concerts, but to bring the entire SAAF universe to life in as many forms as possible: music, film, storytelling, characters, theater, live performance, and eventually a full stage experience.

That means someday we would love to tour with real musicians stepping into the roles of the characters from the Shunned at a Funeral universe and performing the music live. Not just playing songs, but helping bring the story, the characters, and the world to life on stage.

Right now, though, a full live tour is not realistic yet. The logistics are significant. It would require travel, equipment, rehearsal, production, additional musicians, singers, and the right people who could faithfully step into the world we are building.

So for now, we are focusing on what we can do well: creating music, films, and theater experiences. Our feature-length films allow the project to “tour” in a different way by bringing the SAAF universe into theaters without all the limitations of a traditional live show.

It is not the same as a concert, but it is designed to be immersive, cinematic, and powerful in its own right.

The goal has always been to keep growing until we can bring Shunned at a Funeral to life in every form it was meant to take.

Music now.

Film and theater next.

And someday, Lord willing, the full live experience.
